Theme Camp

  • Twice the old board = twice the old fun! Two big boards both at 16' x 9' both in 2 sections for 'easy' transport

  • Chris is worried
  • Carl smiled
  • Skip the camera tree, save some dough (roughly 4 hundy)
  • Heather pretty much hates us and we just got started
  • Heather won't pee in a Gatorade™ bottle
  • Josh will be giving 'Pee in a Gatorade™ Bottle' demonstrations at next week's meeting
  • Jeff is keen on his new sooper-dooper shower structure (told to us via Meghan)
  • Meghan insists she can't speak for Jeff, which may be the most shocking piece of news we've heard all year
  • Jeff appearently issued a 'Yummy Cupcakes" moritorium on their household, Meghan is breaking it
  • Trashistan sux
  • Grey water system shall be larger and improvier
  • Jeff also has big plans for tent shade
  • Will we accept Trashistan within our borders? Details to be ironed out with their ambASSador
  • Theme Camp questionarre(sp?) mostly got filled out
  • As no one has stepped up to the plate, ie. Jeff is busy and Caleb would kill us all, Carl will once again be foreman for the board construction
  • Carl is also going to get a welding rig this weekend and plan out the art car
  • Josh and Caleb will finish fixing the brakes this weekend

Art Car

  • One of two broken brakes is now fixed. Josh assures us that 100% of the brakes will be fixed...soon

Miscellaneous Details

  • We need to get measurements of the trailer so we know what we need to attach a railing to it
  • Lots of ball jokes

Art Car Design Sub-Committee Meeting of Design Parameters and Credentials

Barbaras, 10p. Wednesday the 4th.

  • We must must must do a MPG test so we know how much fuel to bring. We could also attach pedals to the jeep in the event we run out of said fuel.
  • Trailer. That's all I wrote. I think because we need one but that's clear from the earlier item.

Garage Sale

May...in Los Feliz

Theme Camp

The discussion boiled down to a two board setup with a wheel between the two boards. One board would be the stuff we're looking for. When it's found, that tile moves to the Found board. Each board is painted with an artwork. One artwork gets covered up as the other is revealed making it even more arty than just plain art. The wheel in between the two will contain adjectives/modifiers for items marked with a wheel icon. The "finder" must spin the wheel to decide what they have to specifically do/find. Within/attached to that wheel is a prize wheel that people spin to decided their reward. Make sense? Great. Get building.

  • Theme camp is now taking resumes for a project manager. If you have gusto, tolerance, attitude, uppity-know-it-all-ism to rival Carl's, and a partially functional brain you're the one we want! Submit resumes to Dr. Carl

Miscellaneous Etc.

  • Inventory update: Wade has a stack of 3x3 carpet pieces we can put inside the dome
  • A Meeting schedule shall be laid out by me. This way we can roughly plan our future. Roughly.
  • Party meeting will take place when Diana thinks it should

Meeting#Five, Mar 7, 2007

Theme Camp Discussion

Final 3:

  • Mad scientist camp
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Management & training

Aaaaand FIGHT!

Step 1:

Eat cheese. A lot of cheese.
There was much discussion of worms in pork. Apparently if you pour coke on pork then worms come out. A committee is formed to study the issue. Tcahchke is determined by the committee of Meghan not to be fat. It is determined that a more impartial committee should investigate.

There was a discussion of death by beer launching catapult. We are reminded that your ticket says you could die.

We are reminded that the art car form has to be handed in before June 30th. But sooner is better. The art car in question is currently stuck on the side of the road in valley village. There is much discussion of the appropriate way to get the car running again. Much opinions were raised, nothing authoritative was said.

Tshcake is not a fan of birds. Or the birds are not a fan of him. Do birds really like anyone? Tchake also does not like Anubis. Rude bastard of a dog. Next follows a discussion of Anubis’ attempts to maintain dominance in the loft. Also his habits of eating cat food. It turns his poo orange. It is determined that tschake in fact does not like birds. An intervention is suggested.

Next discussion of whether or not we are starting the meeting. This motion is not carried as a smoke break is counter proposed. The smoke break is passed and carried.

Step 2:

Discuss theme camps.
How will we vote? Jeff goes to get paper. Pre-discussion on the discussion. Called Josh and got his voicemail. Jeff doesn’t care about our teeny tiny democracy. It is decided that we will vote tonight.

  • Mad Scientist Camp:
    • Pros:
      • It could be a lot of fun
      • Fairly wide open
      • We can subdivide projects so small teams could create experiments
      • Can mix “elixirs” to give to people
      • We could wear lab coats
      • We can shock people
      • Hamster wheel – sound and light
      • Jeff wants to incorporate box of pussies
      • Geiger counter
      • Make people eat vinegar and baking soda
      • Make them wear a hamster suit
      • Frenology
      • Measure people
    • Cons
      • They could die
      • Need to be manned
      • Could be less of a group effort
      • Could become too unfocused
  • Scavenger Hunt
    • Pros
      • It could be a lot of fun
      • Tried and true
      • Have hardware
      • Become a “thing”/recognized camp over the years
      • We know it went well last year, and we can give more attention to the art car
      • Wonderfully interactive
      • Improve upon last year’s presentation
      • bullhorn
    • Cons
      • They could die
      • We did it already
  • Management & Executive Training
    • Pros
      • It could be a lot of fun
      • We get to yell at people a lot
      • Retaliate against corporate world
      • Get to use a lot of corporate speak
      • Anti-theme
      • Get elements of obstacle course involved
      • Water cooler penalty
      • Lot of room to have fun
      • Swivel chair races
      • Could get supplies/furniture for super cheap
      • Filing race
      • Extreme copy and collating
    • Cons
      • They could die
      • Papercut
      • Remind people of life left behind
      • Props could get very pricey
      • Could take up a lot of space
      • Storage
      • Getting props to “storage”
      • Activities may be too cerebral for playa
      • Probably not repeat business
      • Could be hard to wrangle people

Step 3:

Vote
And the winner is Scavenger Hunt.
Further discussion will be had at the next meeting to make this more interesting/better/different from last year.

Homework:

Discuss
Caleb used to find Boy George attractive. “He had womanly hips” - Caleb

Yard Sale

Where: 1154 North Howard, Glendale, CA 91207
When: THIS SATURDAY 6am set-up, 7am 'opening'
Why: Dr. Carl seed money

The goal is to get money so that no one has to front money for the poker party, and any additional cash goes into the official Dr. Carl fund

Who's in charge of what:

  • Diana - online advertising
  • Carl/Josh - getting folding table for set-up
  • Vaughn - box o' coffee

Budget

Meghan has graciously offered (no, really) to head up the budget committee for this year. A separate meeting will be scheduled to start hashing out our proposed spending.

Fundraising Concepts

To alleviate some of the BM camp costs, we decided to try out fundraising this year. So far we have the following ideas:

Poker Party @ the loft

Saturday 2/24 - 7pm. Games start at 8pm.
Final details to be discussed at the next meeting, but so far:

  • Evite - Vaughn will send out at the end of January
  • Unlimited buy-ins
  • winner gets 30% of the pot
  • donating a % to a charity???

Party at the loft

Date TBD
This is just a general party, people buying cups/drinks. We also discussed doing a raffle, so if you can get your hands on cool free schwag, start squirreling it away now.

Possible Charities

(we can brainstorm more later as well):

  • BRAF
  • Habitat for Humanity

Structure Discussions

Porch

Meghan wants it to rotate. It's not looking good. However, we did talk about having roll-uppable (and downable) shades to control sunlight. Josh has some bamboo-ey roll-up shades that he's donating for the cause.

Dome

Josh is going to look into acquiring used billoard canvas so we can get a jump on the dome covering this year.

Tent shelter

Jeff said he's got this one under control. Everyone gets a spot in the shade except Vaughn.

Theme Camp Ideas

Here's the first go at brainstorming.

  • prayer flag tree
    • giant metal tree sculpture
    • people attach leaf shaped prayer flags so we have a complete tree by the end of the week

    • or we just have stuffed clowns
  • Comic Strip Camp
    • Create comic strip wall with either blank boxes, or pictures and blank voice bubbles
    • OR create comic strip with blank voice bubble that people can put their face thru and take pic
  • Mad Scientist/Useless Experiment Camp
    • gauge your hamster-tude
  • Fingerpainting Camp
    • fingerpaints, canvas, you get the idea
  • Apology Camp/ Random Apology Camp

    • write a letter to yourself of where you think you'll be at the end of the week. We send out after the burn
  • Pet-a-pussy camp

Miscellany

  • Chris is taking truck locating duty
  • Do we want to do the camera tree?
    • we're completely out of cameras
  • Meals - Jeff will head up planning, and we'll split duties at the event
  • Bring more extra rebar this year
  • Get another sun shower, so we can have one warming while another person is showering
  • Inventory - start gathering a list of what you have at your place so we don't double buy stuff. Send it to Diana

Stuff after Di left

  • Jeff threw out the suggestion of using a riding lawnmower to tow a flat bed trailer as the art car
  • Wade's car:
    • If he can't donate the car to charity he'll donate it to us, his favorite charity
  • Tow Wade's car up with a trailer, then switcheroo! Attach the trailer to Wade's car for expanded art car goodness
  • Thusly, we need a hitch for Wade's car
